I’ve said it before: it’s interesting how we as humans will avoid pursuing our dreams and goals because of fear. Fear of the unknown, fear of failure, and even fear of change: they are all kryptonite to our destiny.

I’m a bit late to the game, but here’s a video of singer/talk show host Adrienne Bailon discuss why she’s avoided pursuing her music. It speaks volumes to how many of us are going through the same internal struggles, regardless of gender, ethnicity, social status, etc.

It takes work and diligence, but we must believe in ourselves and the talents we’ve been given. Throwing caution to the wind and running top-speed into your destiny will not be without its struggles, but it’s worth it.

If I always gave in to my fear, I would still be in Chicago working a menial job. Pushing through it allowed me to move to Los Angeles, where I work in entertainment and actually utilize my $100,000 bachelors degree.

I’m still learning and growing, and I don’t always get it right, but I know I can’t get to the level I want to be (and beyond) without pushing through my insecurities and fear of the unknown. It may not look like what others expect, but if it’s your dream, do it.
